Nighttime Skin Care Routine

I don’t like to mess around when it’s time to go to bed. Which is why I keep my evening skin care routine short but effective. Here’s how I can go from a full face of makeup to having my head hit the pillow in about six minutes:

Step 1 – Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil  has been a staple in my routine for more than five years. It breaks down all makeup effortlessly from heavy mascara to full coverage foundation, and my skin feels amazing after, never dry or tight. Currently I’m using the Anti/Oxi version but I jump around between all six versions depending on how my skin feels. Using the dry hand method I massage three pumps of oil directly onto my face right over my eyes, brows and lips. I then wet my hands and massage my face again which turns the cleanser from oil into a milky emulsion. At this point I use my Clarisonic before splashing my face multiple times to remove all traces of the cleanser and makeup.

Step 2 – After patting my face dry I’ll take a few drops of Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery. Even though I have oily skin this doesn’t increase the oiliness. It balances moisture levels, smooths and adds radiance. I wake up to incredibly smooth and more even looking skin.

Step 3 – Eyes are always a dead give away of age. Of course it is much easier to slow the process of aging, than it is to erase lines once they are already there. Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Cream is one of those products that claims to fight all the problems you could ever have. Fine lines, puffiness, dark circles, dehydration and lack of elasticity. I tap a small amount around my eye area and I do see and feel the difference.

Step 4 – My face is the only part of my body that is oily. So in the winter my hands and body are often starved for moisture. I’m obsessed with Ortigia Hand Cream. The texture is really rich and contains both olive oil and lanolin oil for maximum moisture and super smooth hands.
