Summer always feels so fleeting. It seems to take forever to arrive, and then when you’re just getting into long, sun filled days, poof it’s over. So as we savour what is left of my favourite season here’s a quick breakdown of summer beauty essentials.
Body exfoliators and moisturizers are are always important but for summer they rank higher on the priority list. Herbivore’s Coconut Oil Body Polish buffs and polishes dry dull skin with all natural ingredients. I go back and forth with body moisturizer but once I learned that the ever so popular Brazilian Bum Bum Cream helps tighten and smooth skin, despite the slightly strong scent I was sold.
Of course there is very little point in going to all the trouble to have smooth, hydrated limbs if you don’t protect them with sunscreen. My preference is always a UV spray for quick and easy application. Bonus Coppertone has very cute packaging right now. For my face I’ll only use invisible sunscreen because purple residue is not a good look. My current go to is Glossier’s Invisible Shield SPF 35. The gel texture is lightweight and disappears into the skin effortlessly.
Lips are perhaps the most often forgotten feature to protect, until they are painfully burned. Shiseido Lip Color Splash SPF 30 it’s basically tinted lip balm with UV protection. If you’re going to wear lip balm anyway, you might as well use one that protects and adds colour. My shade of choice is Nairobi Orange.
I’m definitely not the girl who goes to the pool or beach with a full face of makeup. However, I rarely leave the house without my brows done, and I expect them to stay all day. IT Cosmetics Brow Power waterproof pencil has a 12 hour claim keeping brows in their place.
It’s been a struggle to find the perfect shade in Dior Face and Body foundation. There aren’t any yellow under-toned shades that are dark enough. I will say though it is lightweight, waterproof and wears well in humidity.
I tried Milk Makeup Kush mascara in the regular formula and it wasn’t enough volume for me on a daily basis, but the waterproof version for low key summer days is actually perfect.
